Department of Radiation Oncology and Radiotherapy

The medical team of the Department of Radiation Oncology and Radiotherapy at Rechts der Isar hospital is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Stephanie E. Combs. The department has specialists in all areas of oncology with an emphasis on neuro-oncology (brain tumours), pediatric radiotherapy (pediatric oncology), gynaecological tumours (breast cancer and tumours of the female pelvis), urogenital tumours (prostate cancer, bladder cancer), tumours in the head, tumors in the neck, as well as diseases in the thorax and abdominal area (thoracic oncology and gastrointestinal oncology). They have state-of-the-art radiation therapy equipment and also offer treatment options for benign diseases such as tennis elbow or arthrosis.

Radio oncology is a central pillar of cancer treatment, so they work very closely with other oncology units within the Rechts der Isar Hospital, as well as with referrals to specialists or other institutions.

The department incorporates multimodal and complementary medicine in the treatment of their patients. These include Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acupuncture and other alternative therapies.

The department has four linear accelerators and one brachytherapy unit. They offer a range of modern specialty diagnostics and therapies, including intensity-modulated and image-guided radiotherapy, gated and whole-body irradiation. In addition, they have more than a decade of experience in millimeter-precision high-precision irradiation, such as stereotaxy, which they have been able to perform safely and effectively both in the head and in the body region. This also includes radiological irradiation treatments.

The Department of Radiation Oncology and Radiotherapy at Rechts der Isar hospital is specialized in:
